I was treated like a local
celebrity. As soon as I arrived at Salt Lake City airport I was
picked up from Meikle. She took me and my guests to our hotel
room. The hotel room was nice and cozy even though it was 21 degrees
outside! Everything we needed was within walking distance; from a mall,
to a food court, gift shop, movie theater and even the stadium!
So transportation wasn't needed.
We were in the heart of the valley so in the mornings, we
could see the outline of the snow covered mountains as the sun came up.
When we got to the game we had decent seats; about 7 rows away
from the court. Coming to the end of the second quarter, Meikle came
for me so that I could get ready for what they had planned for half time.
Half time came and they turned off the lights, the fans started screaming
D-Bizz! D-Bizz! (Ha-Ha!)... They played the song and the cheerleaders did a dance
routine to it. I came out looking happy and stood in the middle of the
court and they presented me with a huge check (I brought it back toMiami to keep as a
souvenir) and they started taking pictures.
After all of the excitement, I
went back to my seat and watched the game. Coming to the end of the
3rd quarter, one of the sports reporters from FSN (a local sports channel inUtah...I
think) interviewed me asking me the usual: when did I start rapping, how
long, etc. The 4th quarter came and the Jazz played their hearts out!
They won the game and as the fans left the arena, they played
the song again.
On my second day in Utah my guests and I relaxed in
the hotel room for the whole day and at night we went to the 'Gateway' (the
place with the mall, food court, etc.) to see a movie. All in all, the
trip was excellent except, I was looking forward to seeing Ludacris but
unfortunately he couldn't make it. I'm guessing he attended the Obama's
Inauguration inWashington D.C.
Well, that's it!
We've noticed some anonymous haters going onto pages and spamming comments.
You're not happy about this and neither are we.
So we're giving you the power to stop the hating.
Starting today, each individual WeMix artist will have control over their own comments. When you log in, you'll see a large DELETE button next to every single comment on your page. Click that button and the comment is gone. Here's a screenshot:
Be careful - because once you take down a comment it's gone forever. And remember, the delete button will not appear if you're not logged in.
This was a tough call for us. We want people to feel free to give feedback at WeMix. It's a shame that a few anonymous haters made us change that.
We hope people keep it real and stop all the BS with comments. You have a real chance to collaborate at WeMix, so go get it!
Paul Ballard passed away several weeks ago. We were sad to hear the news and wanted to take a few days to think about it.
Who was Paula Ballard? She was the mom and #1 fan of Phokuz, a top artist at WeMix.
I never met Paula but we spoke by email many times. She was a cool, hip lady. She supported her son and his music in any way that she could - and she always kept it positive even if Phokuz didn't win every WeMix contest.
Paula was the first "WeMixer" to pass away. At first I didn't know what to think. But as I thought about her and re-read some of her emails, I remembered the real reason why we started WeMix:
We're all in this together.
We've got to stick together and support each other in every way possible. It means that WeMix has to create more opportunities for more artists. We have to improve the site and listen to as much of your feedback as possible. It also means that artists need to stop hating and start collaborating.
Paula knew that. And so do we.
This is the first blog ever posted about a fan. I don't want to
look like WeMix "favors" any artists, but I think the world should hear
a little bit about this kind, sweet person.
Bex here. And I just wanted to wish everyone on WeMix.com a HAPPY 2009!!! I hope you had a great holiday season, and wanted to tell you that WeMix is back with a vengence. You should expect MANY MANY awesome new things from us in 2009!!!

I was checking out Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 50 albums of 2008, and the first woman on the list was number 19!!! While I am excited that it is Erykah Badu, and he album the New Amerykah Part 1, it's still sad, that there isn't a lady higher on the list. But, she's also the only Urban woman on the list...
It got me to thinking.... who is YOUR favorite urban female musician (of these ladies)? And why do you think she's so awesome?
Personally, I'm a big Alycia Keys fan. What about you?
I wanted to tell you all about the newest thing on WeMix. We just paired up with Phonezoo, a social networking site that lets you create and customize your OWN ringtones. It's totally FREE and has lots of users. Millions.

As you know, the Undisputed Hype Man Throwdown is on. Artists have been
calling the WeMix Hot Line to lay down their best 16 Bars for a shot to be
Luda’s Hype Man on a remix of his hit song “Undisputed”.
The calls and the rhymes have been right on. We’re also getting reports
of problems with the phone lines.
Relax. It might not sound as great as you want on the phone, but that’s
just an error in the system playback. We’re getting the audio loud and
clear on this end. Luda is already plugged in and tasting the product.
If you’re worried that the system isn’t giving you the best chance to shine,
there are 2 things you can do:
1) Call back and give it another try. You can
enter as many times as you want - just make sure to give as much info as you
can so we know who you are.
2) You can also record your own audition and enter it
into the contest directly at WeMix, just like any of our other contests.
We’re gonna listen to all the entries, so whatever you’re comfortable
with, go get it.
Thanks for staying up on the site, and make sure you keep it here because there
are many other opportunities coming.
I know election day is over, and we can now call Barack Obama, Mr. President, but I thought you may be interested in check out what Luda did on Election day.
Have you seen the latest WeMix contest? Last week we brought you the Utah Jazz Mountain Jam, and this week, it's ALL about LUDACRIS!
Do you really think you have what it takes to be on a record with Ludacris?
You either have the skills or you don't!
Show us and you might get
featured on a remix of the "Undisputed" single. Call 888.598.3534 and
lay down your 16 bars over the phone.
You can try as many times as
you'd like. The 5 finalists will be chosen by Luda himself and the WeMix
community will decide the ultimate winner. What are you waiting for???
Remember to pick up Ludacris' new album "Theater of the Mind" on November 25th.
I'm sure by now, you all know that it's Election Day in the United State.
