The WeMix Mashpit has finally arrived. The Mashpit is a music creation playground for all to enjoy. There’s a lot to do there and it's all good. You can take a song and add scratches, chops, screws and other effects to it. You can also create your own video WeMixes by “grabbing” songs from WeMix and mashing them with video and pictures from WeMix, Youtube, or any other source. You can even bring in your own video camera to put your images on top of WeMix songs. Best way to get started is to go out, play around and have fun. So what happens to your songs inside the Mashpit? While it might seem like other people are changing or re-recording your songs inside the Mashpit, THEY ARE NOT. The Mashpit simply connects 2 songs or videos, lets you mix them together and add cool effects, and saves those settings for others to view. NO NEW SONG OR VIDEO FILE IS CREATED INSIDE THE MASHPIT, AND OTHER ARTISTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DOWNLOAD OR USE THESE NEW CREATIONS. YOUR ORIGINAL SONGS NEVER CHANGE AND ALWAYS BELONG TO YOU. You also have the ability to allow or disallow your songs for use inside the Mashpit. The checkbox is located on the listening page for each individual song, inside a bright green box. You just have to log in to the site to see it. Here's what it looks like.
Even if you've NEVER made music before, you can do it right here right now and have a blast doing it. So what are you waiting for? May 15, 2008WeMix - More SiteWeMixers - More love and more to do at the site. here are the highlights: Search Tool So now, all you have to do is click "Artist" or "Title" or "Tag" and you'll get exactly what you want. Matt May 08, 2008Luda. Roots. WORLDWIDE SNEAK PEAK!How's this for a supergroup? Luda recently took the stage with The Roots at Jazzfest in New Orleans. Do you think the crowd dug it? The guys played a bunch of tracks and it was something to see. Here's the link to check out EXCLUSIVE worldwide footage of Stand Up at WeMix. Here's the link to see The Roots play Rising Up from their hot new album. more to come... Hatin' + Votin'Yo WeMix, this is matt checking in here. We're feeling it at the site, lots of new artists, new music, and new sh*t to do. Couple of things on my mind: First, some of those comments are getting downright nasty. now, i like competition as much as the next guy. And I'm totally cool with criticism if you don't like someone's music or vibe. But when you threaten to kill someone? That takes it to a whole new level. We don't need that at WeMix. Kind of fu*ks with the whole purpose of WeMix, know what I mean? We don't want to start taking down comments. WeMix is all about freedom. Be real, but be smart. Second, we're getting questions about the voting and plays system at WeMix. We're constantly checking behind the scenes to make sure nothing funny is happening. People are getting a lot of plays, really fast. They're doing a god job of telling their friends and fam to come play. We opened up the system and made it easier to vote, because we wanted to put the power in your hands. This is important: WeMix is not a one-shot deal. We're going to start making records with our artists as soon as we launch the site for real. If you're not the #1 Artist or even if you're not the #11 or #100 Artist, you still have a shot to make music and get paid for it. we know it's tough when you see someone with 100,000 spins. But if you keep at it, and get on our radar screen, and most of all if you have the talent, you'll get your shot. Might not happen overnight, but it will happen here. Thanks again, keep up on the site cause there's a lot of big new things coming... Matt May 06, 2008Matthew Bradford - A Friend Who Needs HelpOne of the coolest things about WeMix is that we get to help each other create music and live better lives from it. And sometimes this makes us realize how lucky we really are. This is Matthew Bradford before he went to fight the war in Iraq. Matt joined the Marines, went to Iraq to do his duty and paid a huge price: Matt lost both his legs and was blinded during an attack. But that hasn't slowed him down at all. And when a WeMix Artist named Sarah Sebestyen told us about her song for Matt, we jumped at the chance to help out. Sarah is a kick ass singer/songwriter from Nashville. She met Matt at a bar in Kentucky the night before he supped out to Iraq. When she heard he was severely wounded, she knew she had to help. And so she wrote the song My Friend Matt to tell his story in the best way she could imagine: through music. She even made this video to tell us all about it. Sarah is donating all the profits from this song to help Matt and his family. You can buy the song and find out more by checking out their MySpace page. It doesn't matter whether you agree with this war or not; that's not what this song is about and it's not what WeMix is about. We just want to help out a guy who tried to help us all. May 05, 2008ALAMO QUOTEGood Day Wemixers.. Today's Quote is: Always have a plan B.. Up & coming artist look at getting a deal like a ball player looks for the big leagues.. What do you do if you haven't prepared for the worst case scenario ? Are you aware of how many artist that get signed & dropped without putting out anything ? This is a harsh reality.. Even sports players go to high school & college as a stepping stone to the big leagues.. What steps are there for artists? Even if you don't ever get signed, you still have to survive in society & provide the bear necessities. So I say ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B..
