Yo WeMix,

this is matt checking in here.  We're feeling it at the site, lots of new artists, new music, and new sh*t to do.  Couple of things on my mind:

First, some of those comments are getting downright nasty.  now, i like competition as much as the next guy.  And I'm totally cool with criticism if you don't like someone's music or vibe.  But when you threaten to kill someone?  That takes it to a whole new level.  We don't need that at WeMix.  Kind of fu*ks with the whole purpose of WeMix, know what I mean?

We don't want to start taking down comments.  WeMix is all about freedom.  Be real, but be smart.

Second, we're getting questions about the voting and plays system at WeMix. We're constantly checking behind the scenes to make sure nothing funny is happening.  People are getting a lot of plays, really fast.  They're doing a god job of telling their friends and fam to come play.  We opened up the system and made it easier to vote, because we wanted to put the power in your hands.

This is important:  WeMix is not a one-shot deal.  We're going to start making records with our artists as soon as we launch the site for real.  If you're not the #1 Artist or even if you're not the #11 or #100 Artist, you still have a shot to make music and get paid for it.

we know it's tough when you see someone with 100,000 spins.  But if you keep at it, and get on our radar screen, and most of all if you have the talent, you'll get your shot.  Might not happen overnight, but it will happen here.

Thanks again, keep up on the site cause there's a lot of big new things coming...

Is WeMix For Real?

Yo it's matt.  responding to another blog comment from Paula.  She was talking about ways to make WeMix work.  Talking to people who think there's just no way to make it happen at this site.  Here's what she said:

"People just don't understand how this Site could possibly work for them, don't wait for people to vote & play your song, do it yourself all day everyday, every chance you get, tell your cousins, Mama,Daddy, friends, tell everyone even strangers, your neighbors, co-workers, send out messages to all your myspace friend's and want to be friends. Make flyers, poster's, leave them everywhere in stores,car windshields. Broadcast & Advertize Wemix.comeverywhere, anytime, everyplace, all day everyday. Tell people to Register & vote!!!!"

Paula got it right on the nose. WeMix CAN work for you and she knows how to do it.  The whole point is to go out and get your friends and fam to give you love - and PLAYS - at the site.  And in just a few days we're gonna roll out a new site with tons of tools to help you promote yourself all over the site and the web.

Luda, DTP, and I are totally committed to this. We have been blown away by how much great talent is out there, and we are going to make records with you really soon.  In fact, we are already hearing from WeMixers who are making music with each other and with other big name talents outside the site.

Yes, it takes time to build up spins.  But we are just getting started.  This isn't a one-shot deal that ends next month or even next year.  The bigger we get, the more records we make, and the more artists get to live their dreams.

So don't give up.  Don't feel like "there are 40,000 other songs here, no one is ever gonna fu*k with mine."  You've got the power to make it happen, but like Luda says in our promo, the question is how bad do you want it???

Working with DTP, I come across many artist on a daily basis. Some are better than others. I personally admire a person with self confidence but I can't stand an artist who's too cocky (no homo).. The sales pitch doesn't fly over hear.. Let your body of work speak for you.. You can't tell me you the best thing since the Ipod because I look strictly at the facts.. The music.. So to my Wemix family, maintain your confidence & never let someone knock you but always remain humble & let your creative works speak for itself..

Today's topic comes from an experience I had last night & I'd like to share it my Wemix family.  Last night I saw a young brother who I've watched basically grow up before my eyes. I would describe him as a bright clean cut young man who finished high school & is finishing college. He knows I'm in the music biz & presented me with a demo. As I listened, I realized this isn't the same person I know. In his lyrics I here
him busting his gun & trafficking drugs from state to state. COMPLETE BULLSHIT.! I couldn't wait to see him to tell him what a fake he was!! His response "thats what people wanna here".. I told him that was bot the way to go about it.. I said "what if people call your bluff on it & what would you do?" He couldn't answer that & that's when I said "lil brother,always STAY TRUE TO ONE'S SELF..

Up & coming artist think that success comes over night.. Well I'm here to tell that is so not the case.. The signing process alone takes weeks even months to complete.. After that process, you receive an advance which should hold you through the completion of your project.. Some people choose to jump out the window & purchase cars,cribs, jewelry etc which is a poor decision.. After the completion of your album,you sit on the album release runway until you're number is up which is more time waiting.. I suggest you spend your advance wisely so if you do decide to QUIT YOUR DAY JOB , you're able to pay your bills..

When WeMix Happens

Props to Andrew Hypes and K. Bizzle.  They met at WeMix, hooked up with each other, and got together online to make a song.  Andrew sent her some beats.  Bizzle did her thing and laid down some rhymes on top of it.
